Security Procedures

At Terminal Entry

Present a valid government-issued photo ID and a print or digital copy of your boarding pass/air ticket to security personnel to enter the terminal.

Prepare for Security Screening after Check-In

All passengers must pass through a security checkpoint before proceeding to the boarding area.

  • Remove metal objects, belts, bracelets, and jackets and place them separately in blue trays for screening.
  • Electronic items: All items including phones, laptops, smartwatches, fitness tracker and tablets should also be placed separately in blue trays for screening. There are certain electronic items prohibited by the Government of India such as satellite phones, e-cigarette. To know more, visit: Appendix B.
  • You may need to remove your shoes at airport security. Kindly use Red trays to keep your shoes separately for Security Screening. After completion, handover these trays for sanitization to our ground staff.
  • Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) : LAGs can only be carried in containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml.

Multiple containers of LAGs can be carried, max up to 1000 ml, but they must be placed in a transparent, resealable plastic bag. These bags are also available at the security check area for passengers.

Food & Films

Food and regular photographic films are safe to pass through the X-ray scanners.

Assistance For Special Category Passengers

  • Passengers with medical devices like pacemakers, prosthetic limbs or other medical needs should inform security staff for special handling.
  • Passengers can use self battery-operated wheelchairs and should notify security in advance for smooth screening and assistance.
  • Zones are available for passengers requiring additional assistance or who fall under special categories.

Baggage Regulations

As per the airline's specific rules and regulations (varies by airline) and government guidelines, passengers are allowed to bring only one handbag or cabin bag onboard.

Some airlines permit pets in the cabin, while others require them to be checked as cargo. Confirm with your airline in advance. Passengers can also use Pet and Fly Service at Delhi Airport.

Lost & Found

If you lose an item during security screening or elsewhere in the airport, visit the Information desk or seek assistance from airport staff. Lost items are securely stored and can only be claimed after thorough verification. Passengers must present a valid government-issued ID along with specific details about the lost item, such as its description, location and time of loss.
